The conventional wisdom is that most accidents occur at home or very nearby. It’s a saying that does hold water. Most car crashes happen within five miles of a person’s home. About 52 percent of people who are involved in a crash are just a few miles away from their place of residence. Daughter of the late, great singer Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina, learned this statistic the hard way.  Continue reading →

Understanding Parking Lot Accidents

U park like an as*****

Brace yourselves because Black Friday shopping is coming. As much as shoppers groan about lines, crowds and lack of sleep, there will be millions flooding stores across the country as soon as they shake off the tryptophan induced grogginess. Before getting to the mall, shoppers have to first find a parking spot in the garages and endless lots of asphalt ringing retail establishments. Considering the reports of trampling and brawling over deep discounts, it’s reasonable to think that fighting for a strategic parking position might cause an accident as well.  Continue reading →

It seems Los Angeles can’t seem to get a break from child starlets driving badly. Or to be more specific, a reality starlet. Kendall Jenner, younger sister of the Kardashian clan and aspiring model, has been spotted multiple times swerving down the freeways while engrossed in her phone.

The young girl is only 16-years-old and has yet to cause any accidents. However, her age is a factor in her traffic offenses since drivers under 18-years-old aren’t allowed to use phones at all in the car. They aren’t even allowed to speak on the phone using a hands-free device because the demographic is so prone to distracted driving that causes car accidents.  Continue reading →

Both hands on the wheel at 10 and 2 o’clock positions. Keep your eyes on the road. Don’t text while driving.  Use a hands-free headset if you need to answer a call. Leave the food, make-up, shaving and other distractions for another time. You have to pay attention to the road if you don’t want to cause an accident.

Now that Governor Jerry Brown has signed new legislation that allows autonomous vehicles, essentially driverless cars, to operate freely on California roadways we can all look forward to the day when our cars will pilot themselves and we’ll be free to enjoy the ride. Study up for class or work, get some last minute breakfast in the car and use your phone all while your vehicle navigates the road.  Continue reading →
